Esteban Ocon reveals that he worked hard on his qualifying and believes he's now a better driver for it.
Force India driver Esteban Ocon has managed to out-qualify his team-mate Sergio Perez nine times out of twelve races since the start of the season.
Ocon revealed that he worked hard to narrow the gap between him and his Mexican team-mate, and now the Frenchman is stronger in that area - it's clear he was able to identify one of his weaknesses.
The Force India man has been linked with a move away from the financially unstable team and linked with a move to Renault, who are looking for potential replacements for Carlos Sainz Jr.
Ocon explains that he has more freedom this season in Formula One, which allows him to make special requests, such as having a specific steering wheel for some races, for instance.
"Last year, I had to work on this aspect (qualifying)," Ocon told F1Only.fr.
"This season I improved and it gives results and I'm a little ahead of Checo (Perez).
"It's very tight, so you cannot stop working. You have to work constantly, everything is not done yet.
"I changed my mind about some things that helped me a lot, it was very helpful. It is very important to have what you want, and we have a new steering wheel for some races.
"I made some adjustments that I will not reveal, but there are some differences between Checo and me. We discussed how we wanted our driving with our preferences.
"But most of the time, engineers do it so well that you do not have to make changes. Obviously, the most important buttons are ready from your hands."
