Yuki Tsunoda has been confirmed as the new driver for AlphaTauri in 2021, but Red Bull are facing more important decisions this week. Later this week, reports suggest the team mate of
Max Verstappen will also be announced.
The
Formula 1 grid for 2021 is almost complete, now that Tsunoda has also been confirmed as a driver for AlphaTauri in 2021. There are now only two spots left, one of which has almost certainly been given away.
Lewis Hamilton still has no contract for 2021, but he is expected to sign up for Mercedes.
Teammate of Verstappen will be announced soon
That leaves only one seat and that is
Alexander Albon's much-discussed spot. Since the departure of
Daniel Ricciardo, Red Bull has been struggling to find a suitable second driver next to Verstappen. The Dutchman already drove
Pierre Gasly back to Toro Rosso and seemed to do the same with Albon last season.
However, after the last race of the season, there is still no clarity. It would be between Albon and
Sergio Perez, where
Nico Hulkenberg seems hopeless for a seat in
Formula 1 for 2021.
Auto, Motor und Sport in any case now knows for sure that
Red Bull Racing will announce the decision for 2021 on Friday 18 December.
"And the next decision at Red Bull will be made on Friday. Then it should be announced who will drive the RB17 next to Max Verstappen in 2021," Auto, Motor und Sport suggest.
