Sergio Perez has his aims firmly set on scoring points at the
German Grand Prix after the Mexican qualified in P8 for the race but is well aware of how tight the midfield battle is.
Perez made it to Q3 for the first time since qualifying fifth for the
Azerbaijan Grand Prix at the end of April. His teammate
Lance Stroll, made it to Q2 marking an improvement in recent qualifying displays for
SportPesa Racing Point.
With a solid foundation underneath him, Perez is targeting points at the
Hockenheimring.
“I’m happy with the result today. We’ve taken a step forward this weekend and the new parts have made a difference," Perez told the
SportPesa Racing Point website.
"Tomorrow we have a good opportunity to race well and score points.
"Reaching Q3 again is a big boost for everyone in the team after a few difficult races.
Despite the positive qualifying, Perez is aware of the tight midfield challenge, adding: "All the way from Q1 to Q3 I gave it everything and the margins in the middle of the grid were so small.
"We have a strong race car as well and I’m confident we can fight with the cars ahead of us. I want to come away with some points tomorrow."
