Lance Stroll was a controversial yet inevitable appointment at
Racing Point for the 2019 season, but his teammate
Sergio Perez has no problem with the Canadian joining the ranks.
Stroll will be in his third season in F1 after enduring a tough 2018 following a bright debut season in 2017.
He joins
Racing Point after his father, Lawrence Stroll bought the old Force India with a consortium.
Perez and
Stroll were involved in a first lap crash in China in 2017 but
Perez is happy to put it aside.
"I remember it very well," Perez told Le Journal de Montreal.
"But it's a thing of the past.
"Now we have to work together for the sake of our new organisation.
“Our relationship must be healthy, both on and off the track," he added.
Despite being happy to forget their old clash
Perez insisted he won’t be changing his racing style following the Canadian’s arrival.
"I will not change the way I drive, even if my teammate is the owner's son.
"I'm not worried.
"We are at the highest level of our sport and we have a job to do,” the Mexican said.
