The final qualifying session of the 2022
Formula 1 season is over. With that, the biggest winners and losers are also known in the direct qualifying duel with their teammate.
The big winners in qualifying duels
Some
F1 teams have been fairly evenly matched this season, but others have seen big differences.
Max Verstappen, for instance, beat his teammate
Sergio Perez 18 times, but
Charles Leclerc,
Sebastian Vettel,
Valtteri Bottas and
Kevin Magnussen also prevailed over their teammate most of the time.
However, none of the aforementioned drivers beat their teammate as often as
Lando Norris and
Alexander Albon. They were faster in no less than 19 qualifying sessions than their respective teammates
Daniel Ricciardo and
Nicholas Latifi, neither of whom will have a permanent seat on the F1 grid next year. Had Albon not had to sit out the
Italian Grand Prix, he might have made it 20, making him the big winner.
