Christian Horner is confident that
Red Bull Racing can have a strong weekend in Singapore. The team principal believesif Red Bull can build on the good pace
Sergio Perez showed during the first race of the current doubleheader in Baku, there is no reason why the team cannot be competitive this upcoming weekend as well.
Horner confident heading into Singapore GP
The Azerbaijan GP did not finish the way
Sergio Perez wanted, after he crashed with
Carlos Sainz on the penultimate lap, but the Mexican was in contention to fight for the podium all weekend. He drove with a different setup from teammate
Max Verstappen, and that paid off in qualifying and the race for him, as for the first time since the Azerbaijan sprint qualifying a season ago, he managed to outqualify the Dutchman.
Horner therefore wants to take positives from Baku to Singapore. "I think if you take the positives out of this weekend, Sergio was in a position for contention with a victory throughout the race. I think if we can build on that and extract more performance, there's no reason why we can't be competitive in Singapore," the team principal told GPblog among others in Baku.
Verstappen had a tougher weekend than Perez at the
Baku City Circuit, but in the end the Dutchman was the only one to score points for the team after his teammate's DNF. He finished in P5, however, behind his championship-rival
Lando Norris. The Briton could gain three points on Verstappen last weekend.
