The
Singapore Grand Prix at the Marina Bay Circuit looks slightly different from previous years. Previously, there were more corners in the third sector, but these have been partially removed. Drivers are now almost nine seconds faster due to these modifications. Red Bull team boss
Christian Horner shines his light on the subject.
The British team boss is not hearing any negative feedback from the drivers' camp. "I haven't heard anything specific from the drivers, it seems to flow pretty well. Hopefully, it provides another overtaking opportunity as well so I haven't heard anything negative from the drivers about the new layout," Horner told Sky Sports.
Red Bull and Horner vote for DRS zone
No DRS will apply in the section where corners have been removed and a straight has been created. Still, Red Bull's team boss would have liked it to be different. "I think it would have been a good thing to at least get the cars bunched up a little bit more. Certainly, if you're in the pack, I would’ve thought that DRS would have been an advantage there," he says.
The
FIA left it up to the teams whether there should have been a DRS zone. Out of 10 teams, only five responded, of which two agreed. Those two, happened to be Red Bull and AlphaTauri?
"Well guessed. I thought it would just generally create more opportunity in the race but we don't mind," he revealsx.
