The
Formula 1 season has not even started yet and there has already been a lot of big news. Of course, it was
Lewis Hamilton' s transfer to
Ferrari and also the rumoured allegations against Red Bull team boss
Christian Horner. He was allegedly guilty of transgressive behaviour.
A few days after it was announced that Horner had been compromised, the story emerged that Horner was asked to step down as Red Bull team principal. It hasn't come to that (yet), but Auto Motor und Sport is already thinking about who could succeed him anyway. That certainly includes one surprising name.
Looking for team boss within Red Bull?
Jonathan Wheatley is rumoured to be a possible replacement for Horner. He is currently sporting director of Red Bull Racing. Pierre Waché, currently technical director of the race team, is also mentioned as a possibility. Another option would even be
David Coulthard, the former driver who is associated with
Red Bull Racing as a brand ambassador.
Looking for team boss outside Red Bull?
A very prominent name mentioned by the German medium is Oliver Oakes. The former driver is a very successful businessman and also has his own racing team. Hitech GP competes in
Formula 2 and
Formula 3. He has a bit of the profile of Horner in his younger years.
Mattia Binotto and
Otmar Szafnauer have a past in
Formula 1 as team principals. They are not obvious, but who knows, maybe Red Bull Racing could end up with them.
