Daniel Ricciardo doesn't believe that the Hungaroring is similar to the Monaco track despite some people calling it "Monaco without walls".

Red Bull driver Daniel Ricciardo has said he enjoys the Hungaroring, as the Aussie arrives in Budapest before the summer break after this race.

The 29-year-old has winning experience on this track, after a brilliant performance in the 2014 Hungarian Grand Prix, but disagrees people comparing the circuit to Monaco.

"I like the Hungarian Grand Prix," Ricciardo told The Checkered Flag.

"Everyone says it's 'Monaco without walls', but it's not, it's Hungary!

"It's fast, it's normally really hot and even though it's a tight track, there's still quite a lot of overtaking and always a bit going on.

"The middle sector is one of the best of the whole year, it's pretty fast with really quick changes in direction."

Since his 2014 victory, the Australian has finished on the podium another two times and admits that he likes spending time outside F1, exploring the city.

"The track used to be pretty bumpy, but it's improved a lot recently," Ricciardo added.

"I've always liked the circuit but the city is also really cool.

"Budapest is amazing; it's very pretty, there's really good food and I always enjoy spending time in the city centre."

With the Hungarian Grand Prix being the last race before the summer break, Ricciardo believes there is a feel-good factor behind the scenes in F1.

"Because it's just before the summer break, there's always a good feeling in the paddock before everyone takes a well-earned holiday," Ricciardo said.
