Daniel Riccardo has announced he has had surgery on his lip since his race win in China. The medical procedure took place in London to sort out an infected wound on his lip.
His lip had swelled up whilst he was driving to his race win in Shanghai and he reportedly asked TV camera’s to cover his lip during interviews.
The Aussie said: “It took me five days to get back [home] to Monaco after winning in Shanghai, and it seriously felt like I was on the go for all five,” he said on a column on the Red Bull website.
"I was on multiple flights connecting the night after the race, went straight into the Red Bull Racing factory at Milton Keynes, had time in the simulator, and then I had to get some minor surgery.
"So I had to get that taken out and stitched back up in London, so that - and a fair bit of talking about China - was basically the week after Shanghai.”
Going into this weekend, he is the driver that won on the track last season. A lot of expectation is on his shoulders but can he defend off the Ferrari and Mercedes once more?
