Aston Martin believes if they can make a return to the sport, sparking the rivalry with Ferrari again, they can prevent the Italian team from leaving when new engine regulations come in.

Andy Palmer, Aston Martin boss made it clear his Aston Martin company could be the saviour of Ferrari. "Liberty has made it clear that they want to introduce a new engine in 2021. The current teams do not want to change the engines too much.”

"Normally the teams would get their way, but now there is another party that wants to build an engine when the regulations change.

“Liberty can now tell Ferrari that they can leave because Aston Martin and Ferrari share the same space, "Palmer told F1 Racing.

According to the director of Aston Martin, Formula 1 should be remembered that it is all about entertainment. "It is not an arms race between teams, but it's all about entertainment,” added Palmer.

Palmer went on to admit that the prices must drop before they start building F1 engines.

"If we make the engines simpler and the costs of development drop, there is a chance that we will join. We do that with partners. We are not going to deliver an engine to Red Bull to race in the back.”
