Former Red Bull driver
Daniel Ricciardo has described the teams late season increase in performance as being "confusing."
Red Bull had seemed to have written the season off. They publicly said that they were hoping for a good race in Mexico and it seemed like that was all they had in mind. However, Red Bull performed well at most of the races in the later end of the season.
"The sport is so confusing at times" said Ricciardo. "Even in Brazil I was amazed at the pace we had." quoted motorsport.com
"At the start of the race I was coming through the pack, and normally you damage your tryes, but at that point I could still see that I was faster than the Ferraris and the Mercedes."
"It was hard to overtake but I knew we had the pace. I don't know if we got it right or they got it wrong but we've certainly been fast the last few races."
Team boss Christian Horner recognised him teams improvements and said that "we made some good progress and development with the car."
"Really since just after the summer break we've managed to improve."
Red Bull will be hoping to continue their late season performance as they prepare for the 2019 season.
