Mercedes junior driver
George Russell says that testing in Hungary was a "great experience" for himself, as he topped the table.
George Russell ended Day Two of the testing at the
Hungaroring on top, setting an unofficial lap record of 1:15.575 - beating Ferrari's Antonio Giovinazzi by 0.073 seconds following the Italian breaking the record on Day One.
Russell managed to complete 116 laps yesterday for Mercedes on the pink-banded Hypersoft Pirelli tyre.
The Mercedes junior driver said that the whole experience has put a smile on his face and that he is very excited for his next opportunity to get inside a Formula One car.
"Day two ran very smoothly and was much more of a productive day for me," Russell told The Checkered Flag.
"We did some runs on the Hypersoft tyre, which was an incredible experience for me.
"I had never driven that tyre before, nor a Formula One car in anything other than a race setup. That was a great experience and it puts a smile on my face that we achieved the fastest lap ever around the Hungaroring.
"All in all, it's been two productive and positive days and I cannot wait for the next opportunity to drive an F1 car."
