Carlos Sainz could be satisfied after the Styrian Grand Prix. He finished the French Grand Prix in 11th, but in Austria, he finished sixth. The Spaniard hopes for a similar performance next weekend.
Formula One teams will have to use softer compounds this weekend than a week earlier, which is going to have the necessary effect on the cars' performance. "So far we've always had more trouble with the front axle with the soft compounds," Sainz told Motorsport.com. "We know that we have to deal with this problem at every circuit. But it is also true that in some cases we have faced a big problem, like at Paul Ricard or Portimao, while in others it has been a problem to a much lesser extent."
Sainz doesn't dare draw any conclusions before the free practice sessions. "In general, the softer the compounds, the greater the risk of us having problems. But tomorrow we'll get to work to try to understand how to handle these tyres. It will also be interesting to try the new tyres that Pirelli are bringing to the track."
The Spanish driver is currently in a solid seventh place in the world championship. Sainz is currently eight points behind his teammate Charles Leclerc, while Pierre Gasly is 13 points below him.
