The Formula 1 drivers will focus on the British Grand Prix this weekend. No less than 140.000 spectators will be curious to see the fight between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen. However, it is not excluded that the drivers will do the race at Silverstone again this season.
The corona crisis meant that several circuits had to cancel their participation again this season, leaving the FIA in search of ways to keep the calendar full. The past two weeks the GP of Austria was on the program, where Verstappen won the race twice and thus increased his lead in the world championship.
It remains to be seen whether the races in Mexico, Japan and Brazil can go ahead. That is why Silverstone keeps itself available to talk about a second race. "If we can offer help by organising another race later in the season, then we are certainly open to that," track director Stuart Pringle told The Independent.
Pringle stresses that the FIA has not submitted anything yet. "We have certainly not been asked yet and it is also not a conversation I am trying to start. If hosting another race helps the championship, then, of course, we will help."
