Haas are bearing down on Renault in the race for fourth place in the Constructors’ Championship, trailing the French team by just 10 points ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix next weekend.
The American team have had a good third season in F1, but it could have been more given the team and driver mistakes that have been made, with the most recent being Romain Grosjean’s disqualification for an illegal floor at the Italian Grand Prix, after he finished in P6.
If Grosjean’s result was allowed to stand, Haas and Renault would sit level on 84 points.
Haas team boss Gunther Steiner has now said that he is confident of the team’s chances heading into the Singapore Grand Prix next weekend.
He said: "Like every race, I'm never overconfident before Friday, but I am confident we will have a good result.”
Haas have been fairly consistent so far in 2018, scoring points at 9 of the 14 races, and when they fail to score it is often through reliability issues.
Steiner continued: “How good, we'll need to see. Some cars are very specific on certain tracks. Our cars seem to be pretty good everywhere.
“We were very good in Austria. All the other ones, we were always there. I'm confident we'll have a good result in Singapore.”
