Haas F1 team principal
Guenther Steiner says he's
"pretty relaxed" about the team's future in regard to the new
Formula 1 regulations in 2021, which could see their business model being forbidden
The American team are quite openly using a lot of
Ferrari's parts on their own challenger - not just the engine. Partly because of this, they have looked the quickest car in the midfield battle, even though they're operating on one of the smallest budgets out of all teams.
Renault, a midfield team that develops all of its own parts, has already called for an end to Haas' business model, but Steiner is confident the 2021 regulations won't be too drastically different.
"I'm pretty relaxed about it," he told
RaceFans when talking about those new regulations.
"I don't think that there will be anything strange or something. What Liberty Media is trying to do, it’s in the interest of Formula 1, not in the interest of one team or something like this. I’m pretty confident the right decision will be taken.”
Besides, Steiner pointed out, Haas isn't the only team with this business model.
“There is somebody who adopted the same business model now. But, again, I think it’s more not what the teams want, it’s more if Liberty thinks this is a model which will put F1 in a better place, they decide for us.”
