Stoffel Vandoorne didn't show much at
McLaren, particularly during qualifying. But he found strong pace in his first
Formula E qualifying session. The Belgian will line-up in 5th for tomorrow's race.
Vandoorne left McLaren following two poor seasons. He now moves across the all-electric formula. In a wet practice, he set the fastest time and then challenged for the top positions in qualifying.
The former GP2 champion produced a 1:18.490 which was fast enough to put him in 5th just behind another former F1 driver Sebastian Buemi. Also on his debut was Felipe Massa.
Massa struggled to find pace on a drying track and will start tomorrow in 19th.
