Mercedes did exceptionally well for the constructors' World Championship standings at the Austrian Grand Prix. Max Verstappen could have avoided this, but a few laps before the end of the race he collided with McLaren's Lando Norris, forcing him to get new tyres, and returning to fifth place.

George Russell was the third. He saw Verstappen and Norris puncture in front and was able to run away with the win. While Norris crashed out, Verstappen was able to continue driving. Although on new tyres, he finished fifth.

Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez finished seventh behind Nico Hulkenberg and ahead of Kevin Magnussen. Haas, certainly for their part, is also doing great business in the standings. After the sprint race in Austria, the constructor was on seven points, but after Sunday's main race on no less than 19.

Constructors' World Championship standings

1. Red Bull - 355 points
2. Ferrari - 291 points
3. McLaren - 268 points
4. Mercedes - 196 points
5. Aston Martin - 58 points
6. VCARB - 30 points
7. Haas - 19 points
8. Alpine - 9 points
9. Williams - 2 points
10. Stake F1 - 0 points

What a effort from Max and Russell. Two drivers that drive way beyond wat the car is capable. Compare to their perspective teammates of course. Nice to see drivers excel with what they get to drive.

Driving back to the pits with a puncture and in Lando's case, disintegrating bodywork, is pretty common. As long as the car is still drivable, drivers will try getting it back rather than to park it by the side of the track.
So, I am wondering what did Checo do wrong when he drove his car back after having some damage at the Canadian GP?
