Franz Tost believes
Ferrari taught
Daniil Kvyat well. He says the skills he developed have served him well for his
Formula 1 return in 2019. The Russian has scored 10 points so far this season, three more than his rookie teammate.
Kvyat was relegated to Toro Rosso in 2016 in favour of a certain
Max Verstappen. During his season away from the track, Kvyat worked on the Ferrari simulator. Now he's back in a real Formula 1 seat, Tost can easily identify the improvements.
"Daniil is a lot more experienced. He is much more mature. He understands the technical side of the sport a lot better. Last year he worked in the simulator at Ferrari. I think he learned a lot there. Everything is now coming together nicely and that is why he is showing good performances this season," the Toro Rosso boss told the press in Canada.
Tost is also happy with his other driver,
Alex Albon. The duo has scored 17 points this season, putting them ahead of both
Haas and
Alfa Romeo.
“I have to say that Alex started with good results. He certainly surprised us. He is also constantly making progress. We now have two strong drivers. They are talented and naturally very fast."
