Stoffel Vandoorne will be back in Formula 1 next season. Although he failed to secure a permanent place with a team, he is involved in the motorsport class as a reserve driver for Aston Martin. The Belgian is keen to get started.
The driver has been back in Formula E in recent years, racing for Mercedes for three consecutive seasons. With the team, he managed to win the world championship last race year. However, Mercedes quit, leaving him to think about his future in motorsport.
At Aston Martin, he will once again team up with Fernando Alonso. Both men got to know each other as team-mates at McLaren and got along well. It was therefore another reason for Vandoorne to choose the British racing stable.
"It's a new adventure for me, switching from Mercedes," he commented in conversation with Motorsport.com. "But I'm really looking forward to it. It is a team that is on the rise and developing the car in full. And I will meet my friend Fernando there again."
