Max Verstappen is expecting a lot from the Japanese Grand Prix. While the Red Bull Racing driver has never managed to win at Suzuka in the past, he tells Viaplay that there is a logical reason for that.

"From 2014 to 2019, of course, there was heavy dominance by Mercedes, so there is nothing weird about them winning so many races here," Verstappen stated brightly. "This track fitted perfectly with how their car was developed. Now it could be a different story."

Verstappen can take world title

Although with a lead of more than 100 points, Verstappen still has five more GPs to secure the world title, the race weekend in Japan seems an ideal opportunity. Indeed, this week Red Bull and Honda announced that they would not be stepping up their collaboration again.

Verstappen expects to have a good chance of doing well in qualifying and the race. "I think if you look at yesterday, there were three teams constantly in front. Of course, I hope we will be the best team today."
