Max Verstappen is happy that Sergio Perez has signed a contract extension at Red Bull Racing. According to the Mexican's teammate, this is important for the team's success in the coming years as well.

On Tuesday, it was announced by Perez and Red Bull Racing that the two sides will work together for longer. Perez joined the Austrian racing team in 2021 and still had a contract until 2024. That expiring contract has now been extended with the signing of the two-year deal. According to Verstappen, this is very important for both parties.

Why Verstappen is happy with Perez

"It's good. I'm happy for him as well. I'm happy that he's staying. We always worked really well. It brings stability with the team, and that is something that I think is also very important within the team," said Verstappen ahead of the race weekend in Canada. In doing so, Verstappen repeated words that Helmut Marko also said. The Austrian spoke of continuity for the team.

In the press conference earlier in the day, Perez was asked about his teammate's role in the new deal. Stories appeared online that Verstappen would be happy with Perez and that he would, therefore, have been given a new contract. Perez vehemently denied these rumours, claiming that these kinds of stories are part and parcel of F1.

With the new contract, Verstappen and Perez will at least continue to work together through 2025, as Verstappen will also stay at Red Bull Racing. The duo has been quite successful so far. In the three seasons they raced together, Verstappen won the title every year, Red Bull became the constructors' champion twice, and Verstappen and Perez finished 1 and 2 in the drivers' standings for the first time in the team's history.
