Heading towards the halfway point in the season and
Sebastian Vettel is in pole position to go on and take his 5th World Championship. He asks his
Ferrari team to continue bringing updates to the tracks so that he can stay ahead of title rival
Lewis Hamilton.
The Italian's brought a massive upgrade to Silverstone, and it was these parts which Vettel believes won him the race. But he confirms they must not get complacent with the car as Mercedes will soon improve.
"I think we need to improve our car until the end of the year. I think our car is very good. I think our car is working well on these [Silverstone] types of tracks," he told Formula 1. "[But developing] will be key. Because then you have something to [fight] with. And if you have something to fight [with], something to play with, then you can make it happen."
The German now heads to his home race at the Hockenhiemring next weekend. He already has an eight-point lead over Hamilton.
Throughout the weekend at Silverstone, pundits and team members insisted the Ferrari engine was the new benchmark. If Vettel can come away with a points advantage from that race, then he will become favourite.
