Vettel hopes Red Bull will not use team orders to let Verstappen win

Sebastian Vettel hopes that Sergio Perez will be allowed to win the race at Red Bull Racing if that situation arises. The German is clearly speaking out against team orders to let Max Verstappen win.

Ahead of the Mexican Grand Prix, a team order from Red Bull Racing is a major topic of discussion. What if Perez is leading his home race with Verstappen behind him, should he let the Dutchman pass him? Vettel hopes Red Bull will not start using team orders.

''I'm not a fan of team orders. Even if maybe the situation is logically very easy to explain, I still think it's bad and I will be in favour of not having any team orders ever. If Checo happens to be ahead, then Checo should stay ahead. And if he's not ahead, he has to be overtaken by whoever, whether that's a Mercedes or a Red Bull,'' Vettel said according to Autosport.com.

However, the German realises that things could also turn out differently at the Grand Prix, but referred to a difficult moment in Valtteri Bottas ' career at the Russian Grand Prix, when Hamilton was given the win as a gift to run extra points off Vettel. “I can also see if that's not happening and he will have to let Max by, but Valtteri has been in that position, and it's not nice,'' the four-time world champion concluded.
