Sebastian Vettel has said that he likes his win from this weekend in Bahrain better than he did his win in Australia two weeks before when he won with relative ease.
Vettel took pole position and eventually managed to see out the race, but the German came under immense pressure from Valtteri Bottas in the final stages of the race, as the Finn was driving on a way fresher set of tyres that had him driving two seconds faster than Vettel.
“Obviously, this is a great way to start the season and it wasn’t expected,” Vettel said after the dust settled.
Mercedes were the obvious favourites heading into the season, and they probably still are, but Ferrari have made a fantastic start to the new season, with Vettel winning two out of two.
"Obviously, Australia was a different race and if you compare these two races, here we had the pace and won on our own," Vettel analyzed.
"So, I think it’s been much better, but it was a very tough race.”
Margins between Ferrari and Mercedes remain very small, and Vettel thinks next week's race in Shanghai might be just as tough.
“It feels better winning here than in Australia because here we had the pace.
"So, I am very happy, even though it’s sad to see one of our guys getting injured.
"I wish him to get well soon, I know he’s in very good hands now.”
