The Austrian Grand Prix is a favourite with F1 fans, mainly with the Orange Army from the Netherlands. Every year, tens of thousands of Max Verstappen fans travel to the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg to encourage the Red Bull Racing driver. It is also a popular destination for many F1 fans in Europe. The Austrian Grand Prix will be held at the Red Bull Ring (formerly known as Österreichring and the A-1 Ring) in the town of Spielberg, between the mountains of Styria. The main race will be held on Sunday, July 2. The sprint race takes place one day earlier. For the full schedule, click here.
The Red Bull Ring is located between the mountains and is far from major cities, so the car is the most logical means of transport to travel to the Grand Prix. The circuit is close to the S36 motorway, a two-hour drive from Vienna. Please note that you have to pay tolls on some roads. Parking at the circuit is free.
The Grand Prix is easy to visit by public transport. A direct train runs from Vienna to Spielberg. A shuttle bus will take you to the main entrance in about ten minutes. After the race, there are enough buses to get back to the train station quickly. For more travel options, click here.
The few hotels near the Red Bull Ring are mostly occupied by F1 staff, teams and media. Most visitors to the race, therefore, choose to pitch their tents at one of the many campsites in the area. Those who still want to stay in a hotel can choose to go to Graz. Austria's second city is over an hour's drive from the circuit. In Vienna, there are many places to stay, but a one-way trip from the capital to the Red Bull Ring takes about two hours.
The Austrian Grand Prix is among the cheapest on the F1 calendar. A General Admission ticket for three days are still available on the Formula 1 website for 455 euros. The Red Bull grandstand - which gives an excellent view of most of the circuit, costs between 195 euros and 495 euros.
