Mark Webber sees that Mercedes have made a big step forward from Red Bull Racing, but doesn't want to point out a clear favourite for the world title just yet. After all, there are still a number of races to go, one of which should suit Mercedes better and the other Red Bull.
The former Red Bull driver thinks Mercedes have a clear advantage at the moment. "Don't forget that Valtteri Bottas stormed towards pole at Monza, there he could have done what he did in Turkey and just driven away," Webber said during the Formula 1 Nation podcast.
The 45-year-old Australian thinks other factors could well play a big part. "In Austin Mercedes should be strong, but in Mexico and Brazil Red Bull have shown great things in the past," he continued.
"There's nothing in between. Six points is nothing," the former Formula One driver continued. "You are brave if you dare to predict who will win. I expect some twists and turns, and the teammates could play a bigger role," said Webber.
Webber had a lot to say, was a great podcast. https://youtu.be/VuRvC948__U Very concerned about the Redbull speed and upgrades, have Redbull maxed out that car. We shall see.
At this moment redbull needs to maximize the result at Mexico and Brazil ( as in 1-2 finish) to widen the gap in wdc and close in the points gap in wcc
