Sky Sports will hold exclusive rights to Formula 1 in the United Kingdom until 2029. The TV company will remain the exclusive rights holder for at least another six seasons [plus the rest of 2023] as the sport continues to boom around the world. Sky Sports have held the rights since 2012.
As has been the case for a number of years already, Sky will broadcast every practice, qualifying and race session in the Formula 1 season. In the deal, home nation races [British Grand Prix] and highlights of other races will remain on free-to-air. Currently, it's Channel 4 that broadcast the highlights.
The exclusive nature of this deal means F1 fans in the United Kingdom cannot access F1 TV Pro, though recently, Sky Sports introduced a range of new features, including allowing fans to pick their favourite drivers' onboard camera. Ultra HD coverage is available for Sky Q and Sky Glass customers.
