Mercedes have had plenty of success in recent years with six world championships for
Lewis Hamilton and one for
Nico Rosberg. Team boss Toto Wolff has been at the helm of the
Formula 1 team during this period and has no intention of stopping for the time being.
Wolff was faced with the choice to leave Mercedes last year. His contract with the team expired, leaving him to decide what he wanted with his future.
"Last year I was really beating myself up to come to a decision of whether I wanted to go back in finance and have a hedge fund or continue with my private investment company or stay in motor racing. At the end motor racing won," he said in an interview with
ESPN.
The team boss appeared not to be able to do without Formula One just yet."I think it's the sheer fact that the stopwatch never lies. You always have a benchmark. There are new challenges that are coming and that continue to develop the organisation and the team into the next generation. It's about diversifying the business while not distracting from racing -- as a company we are growing at a tremendous rate."
Mercedes versus Red Bull
Mercedes are in a colossal battle with
Red Bull Racing for the world title this season. For now
Max Verstappen is twelve points ahead of Hamilton, but the drivers still have plenty of the season left.
