First, it looked nailed on that
Charles Leclerc was going to replace
Kimi Raikkonen in 2019, then Raikkonen was certainly staying again, then Leclerc was actually still replacing him, and now, Italian media have reported that
Ferrari will stay with Raikkonen for one more year before letting Leclerc come in 2020.
It was previously thought that Ferrari were going to announce their second driver in the days after the Italian Grand Prix, but that announcement seems to be pushed to the Singapore Grand Prix now, which takes place next weekend.
Ferrari have reportedly chosen the middle road, stalling Leclerc at another team (likely Sauber) next season while keeping Raikkonen on board. This contrasts a lot of reports, including the ones that suggested Raikkonen was told on Friday Ferrari were replacing him next season.
