The outcome of the Austrian Grand Prix may yet change. Following a protest by Aston Martin, it emerged that not all track limits violations had been penalised, and so FIA stewards are still going to hand out penalties.
The stewards have ruled that Aston Martin's protest was justified, meaning that several track limit violations took place that were not looked at during the race. This may have allowed some drivers to escape during the race instead of being handed a time penalty.
The stewards have decided that these time penalties will still be applied and the race result will be updated as a result. In a statement issued by the FIA, the stewards stated that the race committee had to deal with over 100 deleted lap times. In addition, over 1,200 cases were reported of cars possibly exceeding track limits.
I was surprised Lewis only copped 10sec the amount of times he appeared to cross the track limits and I think another 10 sec penalty is on the cards.
It's an absolute joke with a very simple solution- Bring the gravel closer by a cars width to the white line. As Gasly said it is impossible to see the white line!
You just cant have 2 corners track limites it has to be rhe whole track
This is wrong, each driver who was given a penalty had the opportunity to recover lost time. Giving penalties now will be a huge disadvantage for those receiving it. E.g. Ver gets a 5 sec penalty, in the race he had almost 20 sec lead and then pitted to try for the fastest lap, now he can loose 1st place.
As I understand it only certain corners was monitored,(9 and 10) not the full circuit
At the end Alonso wins this by lapping everybody, having gone 0 times over white line.
I believe this is mainly about Lewis, as per Lando Lewis was exceeding track limits 3-4 for times in one lap and for multiple times. Lando was more interested in live commentary about Lewis track limits than his own driving. But it will be interesting if he gets caught bcos of this scrutiny.
I don't know what you are using.
He literally said he's not going to report it and that the team should look into it, the opposite happened with Lewis........
I understand you don't know much of this, atleast please don't insult others for your lack of knowledge.
Ah that's why that whiner gets another penalty and Noris won't.
But it's okay if you don't understand F1, it's difficult for a lot of people.
Max won by 5.155 seconds over Leclerc, so even if he gets a 5 second penalty for track limits, he still wins. But that pitting for fastest lap is suddenly looking a lot less smart.
The top 3 are safe.....Dont know about the rest......Over 1200 violations. This is the most ridiculous GP i have witnessed in 50 years...Just fix corner 9 and 10 and add gravel trap.
Completely agree. When it was high curb drivers are going on top which resulted in car damages and they flatten the curbs only to penalize. That only shows track need fixing than penalize the driver
Or ignore track limits and so it's the same for all. Imagine what new fans must think.
If they completely ignore track limits, then cars will go completely out of the circuit and get a longer run to start their quali lap. You know what I mean? F1 drivers will use every mm you give them. The solution is to not give them any extra MM.
Racing is performed inside the circuit, not outside.....
I do, but for now the FIA look like amateurs and they don't have the manpower to address this. At least leveling the playingfield will address it. It's nothing new either.
Just in. Silverstone race will be postponed as Stewards and FIA will sit over the next 2 weeks to evaluate over 1200 violations of breached track limits in Austria..........FIA, do you want to borrow some kitty litter?
They need to sort it out not hours after the race fia getting a joke
It's really unfortunate. These things should be sorted out during the race so that drivers can respond to them and not much later. I have no doubt the circuit or track limits will be changed for next season. This one has been a joke.
