Max Verstappen will continue at Red Bull Racing, reports De Telegraaf. The Dutchman signed a contract that ties him to the Austrian racing stable for several years.

The extension of the contract had been in the offing for some time. Verstappen is having a great time with the Austrians and Red Bull is also very satisfied with the performance of the driver. It was therefore only a matter of time before both parties would reach an agreement.

Verstappen very successful at Red Bull

Verstappen moved on to Red Bull in 2016 and immediately took first place in his first race in Barcelona. In the years that followed, Red Bull was often the second or third best team in Formula 1. Last season that changed when Verstappen suddenly had a car with which he could compete with Lewis Hamilton.

Although his competitor seemed to have a better car in the second half of the season, Verstappen managed to beat Hamilton and take his first world title. In the coming years, Red Bull and Verstappen hope to add a few more world titles to cement his place in the history books.

According to De Telegraaf, the deal would make Verstappen the highest-earning Dutch athlete. Sources of the Dutch medium say Verstappen will earn 40 to 50 million euros per year. The deal has not yet been confirmed by the team and Verstappen himself.

The Champ becomes now also (deserved) the best paid F1 driver as he gets a better deal than Hamilton at the team he matches perfectly.

And he is only 24 years old.

The previous contracts Verstappen signed allways had exit clauses for the case Red Bull Racing would not provide him a winning car. I presume his manager Raymond Vermeulen secured those clauses also this time as the insecure rule change and engine freeze bring some insecurity.

It's a good combination. They trust each other.

The big question is. Is it the 15 yr contract that MV was wanting so much after his emotional, magnificent and spectacular championship winning race(sarcasm) in AD, that he was wanting ? If so the reported €50m would be worth every penny ! If not well RB would be better giving that salary to MM !?

Well said Kzik, let's hop thats the case. With all these regulations changes and the engine freeze.
A contract locks you in with a successful team or unsuccessful one
But also Redbull and Max are the perfect match ?
