Guenther Steiner faced a difficult decision last season: to continue with Mick Schumacher or not? The Haas team boss decided to say goodbye to his protégé. In the Netflix series Drive to Survive, the Italian American had harsh words for Schumacher junior. In conversation with Speedcafé, Steiner looked back at his word choices.

"I have nothing to be ashamed of", Steiner said. Many viewers were shocked by the wording Steiner chose about his second driver. Steiner often openly criticised the young German, in front of Haas-executives or teammate Kevin Magnussen. "in the heat of the moment, I sometimes say things”, Steiner countered. “Obviously, that’s what the show needs to do, and whatever was said, was said, I can’t take that one back."

Steiner deals with performance Haas

Earlier, Steiner said of Schumacher that there is no point in pulling a dead horse. About himself, Steiner is less outspoken. “Things like this happen in racing, so we shouldn’t go too deep into it and analyse my mental state!” the team boss sighs. “I’m judged on what we achieve at the race track, not if Netflix looks good or bad. I don’t really care about that.”

I think he realky does not care about netflix, he is covering nothing up and for sure is not trying too make himself politically correct. Actually for how direct he is a lot of people could get a dislike for him and who would want that for himself on purpose.
