McLaren break curfew in Bahrain as they work long into the night

McLaren and their mechanics have been working late into the Bahrain night on Thursday, breaking the curfew where teams can no longer work on the cars before the Grand Prix weekend gets underway.

However, despite breaking this curfew, it is now clear that McLaren will not be penalised for working after the allotted time.

Jo Bauer from the FIA's technical delegation has indicated in a brief document that McLaren have used the first of the so-called three 'jokers' for the 2025 season, meaning they will not receive a penalty or fine for working overtime.

If the curfew is not respected for a fourth time or more, a penalty or fine may be imposed on the team.

What the McLaren mechanics were working on is unknown. In any case, the FIA will soon announce whether the papaya-colured team have added any updates to the cars of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri for the Bahrain Grand Prix.
