The
Styrian Grand Prix might have one of the most exciting qualifying sessions of the season according to Johnny Herbert. The former F1-driver believes
Lewis Hamilton and
Max Verstappen will be so close to each other in speed around the
Red Bull Ring.
Verstappen and Hamilton in fierce battle
According to Herbert the free practices give a distorted picture. Hamilton was not able to get any higher than fourth position in the second free practice, while Verstappen was leading the timesheet. "I don't know so far. Looking at how close they were to each other on the fast lap, it could just get very exciting," Herbert told Sky Sports F1.
"You really shouldn't miss this tomorrow," Herbert enthuses.
"It's going to be one of the most exciting qualifying sessions of the season!" What makes qualifying at the
Red Bull Ring extra exciting are the very short laps. With the drivers taking just over a minute to complete a lap, times will be close anyway.
No fast lap for Hamilton
In practice Verstappen seemed by far the fastest, but Hamilton lost a lap in which he was very close to Verstappen's time. The Brit went a bit too wide in the final corner and his time was taken away for track limits.
