The provisional starting grid looks a little different to what the qualifying result suggests. Valtteri Bottas set the eighth fastest time on Saturday at Spa-Francorchamps, but he will have to start outside the top-ten. The same threatens Lando Norris with his crash. Lance Stroll will also receive a grid penalty of five places. Bottas still has a grid penalty of five places as a result of his crash at the start of the Hungarian Grand Prix, just before the summer break. Five other drivers benefit from this penalty, as they all move up a place. At the bottom of the grid, we see Stroll in last place. He was penalised for his part in an incident at the start of the race in Hungary.
No more grid penalties
A situation where
Carlos Sainz might have impeded
Esteban Ocon in qualifying was looked into but eventually, the stewards decided not to penalise him.
Lando Norris doesn't seem to be starting from tenth place, although this is not certain yet. The
McLaren driver will most likely need a new chassis. The gearbox will have to be replaced and it remains to be seen if the engine has survived the crash. For now, Norris is still in ninth place.
