Kees van de Grint is not satisfied with the boring race that was held on Sunday at the
Spa-Francorchamps circuit. The former
Ferrari engineer says he regretted the fact that the race was a parade in which even
Max Verstappen could do nothing against it.
Expectations too high
"This was it. I just woke up again", says van de Grint about the boring
Belgian Grand Prix at
RTL's Slipstream.
"This was extremely disappointing. And I don't mean the driving of Max, but the mission without a chance. As I said last week, I expected more of it." "Apparently the race should have lasted a few more laps, then we could have expected something", van de Grint refers to the tyres that may not have lasted much longer with the men at the front.
Van de Grint had clearly hoped that Verstappen would still be able to disrupt Mercedes' party, but this proved to be unsuccessful. "It was nothing else at all. It was a parade where the Mercedes is so dominant that the most talented driver can't do anything about it. It's a lonely race", the Dutchman concludes.
