Norris optimistic ahead of race: "We will be more competitive in the dry"
- Toby McLuskie
Lando Norris struggled in qualifying this evening, which could have been caused by a power unit issue on his final flying laps of Q2. However, the Brit doesn't know what the main issue is yet and is hopeful that a stronger performance can come tomorrow on the dry tyres.
"At the end of Q1 it started, but then possibly continued into Q2 for the whole time," he told Sky Sports, before adding, "I'm not sure what the problem is yet, and I'm not sure that the team knows as yet because we tried to fix it but couldn't find the exact problem."
However, the McLaren driver is still optimistic and hopeful for a points finish tomorrow, "I've got to be optimistic from P14. We will try to aim for points, and we will be more competitive in the dry than we were today."
Norris put everything into final lap
The young Brit finished by explaining how he put everything into the final laps of Q2: "these are the conditions that I love but there is nothing that I could do. We gave it a shot but it wasn't good enough to run at the end."
