F1 to introduce new camera angles next season
- Nicolás Quarles van Ufford
With the over-the-shoulder camera angle ruined this year because of the halo, the F1 wants to introduce a new onboard camera angle next season, one that would replace the obsolete shoulder-view, as well as an in-cockpit view.
At Spa Francorchamps, we already saw Ferrari testing with a new camera. As seen on the picture above, it was mounted at the right of the air vent on both cars from the Italians. Although we didn't get to see the image that the new angle produces, it should be high enough so the view isn't completely blocked by that very safe but not-very-aesthetically-pleasing halo.
Another new angle will be a camera that's placed inside the cockpit facing the driver, so the viewers at home can see the man that's hidden behind the halo.
Reportedly, all teams agree with the idea, but that doesn't mean it will definitely be introduced next season. First, it has to be approved by the Strategy Group and the FIA Motorsport Council.
