Lando Norris paid tribute to his grandma over the radio on Sunday after securing his first Formula 1 win in Miami. Later, in the press conference, he revealed that his grandma is unwell, and that he promised her he would win a race at some point. The McLaren driver was certainly happy he was able to win won a lot sooner than he initally expected.

Commenting on his family's support throughout his career, the British driver said: "They're the ones who got me into racing, supported me, and allowed me to get to Formula One to reach my dream and do what I've loved to do since I was a kid. I'm very fortunate for everything that they've done and the position they've allowed me to be in."

"You just have these flashbacks of every moment. I literally remember now being at the racetrack for the very first time in my life when I was five-six years old. My brother, my dad, and me just standing there and watching and just seeing the cars go by. Today, being on top of the podium you think of those moments."

'This one is for my grandma'

Norris has completed 110 races, and secured 15 podiums throughout his career- but never a first place until Miami. At the end of the race, Norris was overwhelmed with emotion, and praise for his team and family, in particular his grandma. On his radio, he dedicated his race to her by saying: 'This one is for my grandma'.

Later in the press conference he revealed: "She's not been so well lately so I saw her last week and I told her that I was going to win a race and I didn't say when, I just said I was going to win a race and I didn't think it would be coming this soon so  I'm just very happy that I was able to to do as quickly as I did."
