Red Bull do have some problems on their mind entering the summer break of the 2024 Formula One season. Jonathan Wheatley announced that he is leaving the team to join Audi as team principal, while both Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez are not satisfied with the team's latest upgrades.

Who could replace Weathley at Red Bull?

More and more important figures are leaving Red Bull Racing at the moment. The last man who announced his departure was Jonathan Wheatley, who will join Audi's F1 team as team principal following the mandatory gardening leave. The Austrian team as a result then need to find a replacement, with Max Verstappen's race engineer, Gianpiero 'GP' Lambiese, considered to be one of the candidates.

An important figure who announced during the Miami GP weekend that he will leave is Adrian Newey. It is not known yet where the British master designer could end up, and in his podcast together with David Coulthard - Formula For Success -, Eddie Jordan tried to remain silent on the topic. At the same time, Newey did name his favourite F1 car of all time, and it was not one he designed.

Christian Horner also gave an upgrade on where things stand with the team's power unit project. The Austrian team have teamed up with Ford to produce their own engines for the 2026 season. According to the British team principal, they could sell PUs to different teams in the future, but they first want to optimise their use of them at Red Bull and VCARB, the team principal was quoted by Motorsport.com.

About the RB20, both drivers raised concerns about the latest upgrades the team have brought. According to Verstappen, the Austrians will not return to a car they previously used, and will continue to analyse the data they have collected. Perez also found it challenging to find the car's optimal window following the introduction of the latest upgrade .

Drivers enjoy their break

The summer break is in full effect for the drivers too. Lewis Hamilton was spotted at the Grand Palais in Paris, where the fencing competitions are held for the 2024 Olympic Games. The seven-time world champion went there to cheer on his friend competing for the USA, Miles Chamley-Watson.

Valtteri Bottas also posted on his social media about going on holiday with his partner, Tiffany Cromwell.
