British super-talent Arvid Lindblad has got behind the wheel of a car with Red Bull sponsorship on the side. It may not be a Formula 1 car just yet, but another impressive car. What was particularly striking was that Lindblad had never driven a car in which he had to change gears manually. In the video from Red Bull New Zealand, the driver took a seat behind the wheel of a car with 700 horsepower.

Lindblad got behind the wheel of the Chevrolet Camaro Gen3 Supercar with which Shane van Gisbergen won the 2023 Bathurst 1000. This unique experience took place at Highlands Motorsport Park in New Zealand. "Oh, that was great," was Lindblad's first reaction when he stepped out of the car. "I would quite like to trade some laps in the CTFROC to do more laps in this car, because this was really great." CTFROC is short for Castrol Toyota Formula Regional Oceania Championship, the class in which Lindblad is currently driving to collect points for his super licence, with that licence allowing him to compete in Formula 1.

Lindblad on the hunt for his super licence

Lindblad, the biggest talent within the Red Bull junior ranks according to Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko, won his seventh race in the New Zealand racing class last weekend. The class has been running for several weeks, with the final race scheduled for this weekend.

Not only can the title in the class be captured, but also the super licence for Formula 1. In New Zealand, they are many hours ahead, which means the sessions are run very early, with Friday's three free practice sessions already run. Lindblad was not in the best position yet, finishing 15th out of 17 drivers during the first free practice session, fifth during the second practice session, and concluded the last session of the day in tenth place.

Saturday will see qualifying and the first race. Sunday will see the second race and the main race. Saturday's race and Sunday's first race both last 18 laps. The main race and the finale of the weekend consist of 27 laps.
