Lewis Hamilton was able to take pole position and first position in the sprint, but in the end, it was Oscar Piastri with his first pole ever. Verstappen has continued putting the RB21 where it doesn't belong, as he starts on the second row.
Liam Lawson had another unfortunate qualifying session, ending his second session in a row down in 20th place. Yuki Tsunoda, however, fared better with 9th place. Isack Hadjar, Tsnuoda's teammate, had extraordinary lap times throughout the entire session.
Ferrari struggled through the first two qualifying sessions and ultimately did not fare much better in SQ3. McLaren was a touch above the rest, with the two often occupying the top two spots, with Verstappen just behind them, however, George Russell managed to surprise them in the last moment, finishing second.
