After the announcement of Red Bull Racing to replace Liam Lawson with Yuki Tsunoda, Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur was also asked about the situation at their rivals. How would the Frenchman act if a similar situation took place at the Scuceria?
On Thursday, it was announced officially: Yuki Tsunoda will have the chance to drive for Red Bull Racing starting with his home Grand Prix in Suzuka. When asked about the situation by L'Équipe, Vasseur decides not to draw conclusions. "Would I change a driver after two Grands Prix? These are the events at Red Bull. You don't know how difficult it is to judge what happens in a team," he began.
According to the team principal, it is hard to rate Red Bull's decision without knowing what's going on internally. "You don't know what's going on, what led them to that decision. There are 12 billion reasons behind it, which only the team and the driver know. And sometimes even the driver doesn't know them," the Ferrari team boss continued.
Many marked the fact that Red Bull have taken this decision so early on into the season harsh, but Vasseur also underlined it's hard to have a good judgment of this decision. "You may think it is brutal because it is after two races, but we don't even know 10 per cent of the facts and so we cannot judge it. I hate it when people judge what we do, so I'm not going to do that to others either."
