Which circuit should replace Hanoi? This is what the drivers think
- GPblog.com
The coronavirus crisis has shaken the calendar considerably. The FIA had to put a new calendar together, resulting in fantastic races. But which circuits do the drivers themselves like to drive on?
This season saw the debut and the return of several iconic Formula 1 races. For example, there was the first race at Mugello and the sport made its return at Imola and the Nürburgring. Now that it is certain that next year's race in Hanoi will be cancelled due to a corruption scandal, Motorsport.com asked which circuits the drivers have on their wish list.
Wish list
Bathurst in Australia is mainly used for Touring Cars and GT Cars but is a tight and fast circuit with height differences. It is a big hit among anyone who has ever driven there. Jenson Button has already tested at Bathurst with McLaren in 2011. Sebastian Vettel would love to drive a Formula 1 car at Bathurst. He does wonder if you can make all the corners because then you would literally start flying.
Other circuits where F1 drivers would like to drive are Donington Park in England, Macau in China and Brands Hatch in England. The rest of next year's calendar is already fixed and is quite standard, apart from the addition of the Saudi Arabia GP.
