New rumour leaves room for return of Arrivabene at Ferrari
- GPblog.com
After Louis Camilleri suddenly announced that he had resigned as CEO of Ferrari, the wildest rumours are circulating about a possible successor. Current directors at Vodafone and Apple, among others, have already been mentioned. Now, however, another name is popping up from within the company's own ranks.
With Camilleri, Ferrari had brought in a man from outside the automobile industry, and that was a good thing. This is not a requirement for the new CEO either, and they particularly want to bring in someone who can make money for the company. The best thing, of course, is if someone from the inside can already do that.
According to journalist Gigi Moncalvo of the Italian newspaper La Verità, that person could be Andrea Agnelli. He is the current chairman of Juventus and, through his family, already has close links with Ferrari. The Agnelli family was at the cradle of FIAT and also bought from Ferrari at the end of the 1960s.
Things are not looking good at Juventus
According to Moncalvo, Andrea is now on a sinking ship near Juventus. Due to the coronavirus crisis and the expensive players, the club from Turin is in danger of losing hundreds of millions in the coming months. He would therefore have asked John Elkann (the big boss at FIAT) for the CEO position at Ferrari.
If Andrea Agnelli would indeed be appointed as CEO at the Scuderia, we might also see Maurizio Arrivabene again. The two became good friends during a previous collaboration for Ferrari and Arrivabene followed Agnelli to Juventus, where he ended up in the boardroom.
