Fernando Alonso set the fastest lap in a practice session for the Le Mans 24hr Race.
It will take another two weeks for Fernando Alonso to get the chance to win part two of 'The Triple Crown', but the Spaniard was at the top again during the first session in Le Mans. Yet not all time could be used, because the session was flagged an hour earlier.
The test day was again succesful for Toyota. Where Alonso has been making bad choices for teams in Formula 1 for years, the two-time world champion is happier this time. With the Toyota, Alonso seems to have a big chance of winning in France. As a newcomer Alonso was more than three tenths faster than the number two Mike Conway, also driving in a Toyota.
Racing Team Netherlands also came into action at Le Mans, but did not have a great session. The car of Giedo van der Garde, Jan Lammer and Frits van Eerd stood still twice. The Dutch men therefore have to work hard to make a chance in the LMP2 competition.
