Valtteri Bottas has found himself in an interesting situation since the
Belgian Grand Prix weekend.
Audi has announced that they will enter
Formula 1 from 2026 and there seems a good chance that they will take over the Sauber team, which Bottas currently drives, in the process.
Possible takeover of Audi
Sauber is currently running as
Alfa Romeo because the Italian car brand is the title sponsor. 2023 will be the last year that the
Alfa Romeo name will be on Sauber's cars, after that it is still unknown what will happen to the Swiss team.
According to the latest rumours
Audi is in pole position to buy shares of Sauber, so that the team can go through life as Audi from 2026 onwards. 2026 is still a long way off, Bottas also knows, but it did get the Finn thinking.
"The thing is, since the beginning of this year, I never had set myself any limits about when I will retire, let’s say," Bottas says, to
Crash.net.
Bottas not done with F1
Bottas, who celebrates his 33rd birthday on Sunday, says he is not currently thinking about a possible retirement.
"I definitely feel like I have many more years to come," he revealed. He sees himself continuing in
Formula 1 for years to come.
