Red Bull’s journey with
Honda engines is one of the most anticipated sub plots of the upcoming 2019 F1 season, and
Ross Brawn, Formula One managing director has tipped them to be contenders in the new year.
Red Bull dominated Formula One in the early 2010s, but after the new hybrid V6 era was introduced, they have been relegated to being only occasional winners, and haven’t posed a title challenge.
Brawn believes that the team could pose more of a challenge this year with their new Honda engine, giving them more of a factory team status, as only Toro Rosso also use Honda engines.
Brawn said: "Honda's partnership with Red Bull will be very positive as the team becomes a full factory team.
"I have always focused [on the factory status], because it allows a great opportunities.
"You have to hold hands, join in the adventure together and work together, you have to become one, that's the strength of this new opportunity.
"You have to be a contender for the world title again.”
